The Five Daily Prayer Times
Each of the five daily prayers has a window of time defined by the position of the sun, so the exact clock times change with your location and the date.
Fajr prayer time
Fajr begins at true dawn (the first light on the horizon) and ends at sunrise. It is the first prayer of the day.
Dhuhr prayer time
Dhuhr begins just after the sun passes its highest point at midday (zenith) and continues until the Asr time begins.
Asr prayer time
Asr is the afternoon prayer. It begins when an object’s shadow equals its own length (in the Hanafi school, twice its length) and lasts until sunset.
Maghrib prayer time
Maghrib begins immediately after sunset and continues until the twilight disappears and Isha begins.
Isha prayer time
Isha is the night prayer. It begins after the red twilight has faded from the sky and lasts until midnight (and, in necessity, until just before Fajr).

How We Calculate Prayer Times
Prayer times are derived from the position of the sun for your specific latitude and longitude on each day. Fajr and Isha depend on the angle of the sun below the horizon at dawn and dusk; Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib follow midday, the shadow ratio and sunset. We calculate times using a widely accepted convention (Muslim World League) and display them in the local time of your location, updated daily.
The obligation to pray at fixed daily times is rooted in the Qur’an, which describes prayer as prescribed for believers at appointed times (Qur’an 4:103) and tied to the sun’s decline and the dawn (Qur’an 17:78). For exact congregation (Jamaah) times, always confirm with your local mosque, as communities may round or adjust slightly.
