Prayer times
- Times are calculated on our server from the position of the Sun for each location and date. The default method is Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) with the standard (Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) Asr; other recognised methods and Hanafi Asr can be selected in our tools.
- We do not copy times from other websites or apps. Our calculation is tested against an independent open-source implementation and the measured differences are published on the methodology page.
- They are astronomical prayer times, not a mosque's iqama (congregation) schedule. Where the Sun does not reach the required angle (high latitudes), the page says which rule was used.
- Ramadan start dates are the expected dates of the Umm al-Qura calendar, reviewed by our editors; the actual start depends on the moon sighting or calculation followed by your community.
Mosque listings
- The starting list comes from public map listings supplied by a data provider. We keep facts only (name, address, coordinates, phone, website, building opening hours) and never copy descriptions, photos or reviews.
- A mosque page is shown in search engines only when it has a complete address, a phone number or website, and at least one fact confirmed by us with the mosque: Jummah times, languages, women's prayer area, parking or wudu facilities.
- We confirm facts on the mosque's own website, by phone, or with a mosque representative. Each fact shows its source and the date it was checked. Jummah times older than 18 months are hidden until they are checked again.
Halal listings
- A business name or map category containing "halal" is never treated as proof. Imported places stay unpublished until an editor verifies the halal status with the venue's website, by phone, against a certification body's listing, or by visiting.
- The status shown ("fully halal", "halal options available", "halal meat only") is exactly the status we verified, with the method and date. Zabiha and alcohol are shown as "not confirmed" unless we confirmed them.
Ratings and ordering
Some listings show the aggregate rating from Google Maps as plain text with the date it was captured. It is hidden after 12 months, is never used in structured data, and never decides the order of listings. Lists are ordered by how complete and verified the information is, then by name.
Use of AI tools
AI tools may help us draft internal research notes and city introductions. A person reviews every such text against our data before it is published. We do not publish AI-written facts about a mosque or restaurant, and we never generate reviews or ratings.
Independence and advertising
Listings are free and cannot be bought; a business cannot pay to be listed, verified or ranked higher.
Corrections
Every prayer-time and listing page has a "Suggest a correction" form. An editor checks each report against a first-party source before changing anything, and the "Last verified" date on the page is updated when a fact is confirmed.
Religious guidance
This site provides calculated times and verified listings. It does not issue religious rulings. Where scholars differ, we explain the options and follow your local mosque or scholar for practice.
